Market Chef-Nutritionist

Hi, my name is Christianna, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at UCCS. I am on the path to becoming a Registered Dietitian. With a strong passion for food, health, and community, I'm excited to bring my academic knowledge and hands-on experience to the Backyard Market.

I have experience working with diverse communities to create engaging cooking classes and nutrition education programs, making healthy eating both accessible and enjoyable. I have also spent time collaborating with local organic farms in the Colorado Springs area, including New Roots and Frost Farm, which has expanded my knowledge of fresh, organic, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients. I believe that everyone can use nutrition as a tool to enhance their lives. I’m excited to share delicious recipes, nutrition tips, and advice to help you make the most of your market finds.

During the season, you will be able to find Christianna twice a month at the market where she will be creating dishes based on the seasonal produce and demonstrating delicious ways to cook healthy meals for our families! There will be free samples and lots of “yums”! Come early and enjoy, then shop amongst our vendors to make the recipe below with the farmers market ingredients on the list!
